Political Organisation and Participation APSA Standing Group Annual Workshop
The annual POP workshop is a great place to present work in progress and test your new ideas in a supportive and collegial environment. We welcome attendance and active participation from scholars at any level.
Venue: The workshop will be held at Macquarie University’s city location in Sydney, 123 Pitt Street.
Dates: 26th and the 27th of November
Funding: This workshop has been partially funded by an APSA workshop grant and financial support is available to assist with travel and accommodation for those coming from outside Sydney. PhD students and ECR’s will be prioritised for financial support.
Abstracts: Please email short abstracts (100 words) and title of proposed papers by the 31st of August. You will be notified by around the middle of September as to whether your paper has been accepted.
Additional details: Please indicate whether you: (1) are a PhD student or ECR*; (2) want to do a presentation only or to submit a full paper. If you choose the latter, a mentor from the group will read your paper in full and provide feedback. Full papers will be due roughly 3 weeks prior but final dates will be decided upon once numbers are confirmed.
Theme: In this workshop, we will focus on the way that political organisations and actors are responding to the crises besetting liberal democracy. However, papers that fit within the broad outline of the standing group are welcome, including those on political participation; activism; the media; political parties; interest groups; social movements; and deliberative democracy.
Contact: For further information please Dr Glenn Kefford (Glenn.Kefford@mq.edu.au)
*ECR generally means 5 years post-PhD but periods of leave, unemployment or misadventure should be factored in.
